Stockton, California: Utility Telecom Group, LLC, is pleased to announce it has closed on the acquisition of Spectrum Telecom Systems, a regional retail telecom equipment dealer based in Merced, California – Gateway to Yosemite.

According to Utility Telecom’s CEO, Jason Mills, “Our missions are aligned in helping small and medium-sized businesses find solutions to their needs.” Both companies have a long track record of taking excellent care of customers for the long term and both have been based in Northern California’s Central Valley for over 20 years.
Spectrum Telecom Systems was founded in 1994 by Chris Whiteley, Larry Whiteley, and Gary Burnthorne. The founders have historically worked with Utility’s indirect channel and stated “we have always liked how Utility operates like a small company when it comes to the customer, yet they are big enough to control the customer experience and provide a big business sales channel. That’s a real market differentiator today.”
They also explain, “We are excited about joining as full-time team members in a cloud service provider environment to help customers get the best out of today’s technology, which is a 100% Cloud, and where you should be investing. We can see the future is with a company like Utility and we wanted to get ahead of the game. What we’re doing here is truly a win-win for everyone – cloud services, local representatives, and service personnel on the ground to support customer relationships we’ve nurtured for 25 years.”
Collectively the companies now offer a wide range of business communication systems including, Cloud Telephony (VoIP), SD-WAN, next-generation fax solutions, and a full line of managed services including desktop, antivirus, backup, and server maintenance.
Many of Spectrum’s customers are exactly the same demographic of Utility’s customers, and combining the two companies is a right-sized prescription for future success.
“We are expecting a great deal of success in cross-over sales with Spectrum’s customer base who are demanding managed services and next-generation cloud offerings that Utility has been developing and launching over the last 24 months. This is another great team of professionals joining Utility’s team, just as we’ve done with other acquisitions. We will retain them to continue the tradition of great service at Spectrum Telecom”, says Jason Mills, CEO of Utility Telecom.
